When Required
When PUB Application May Be Required
PUB application or notification may be required when specified engineering activities are proposed near public water and sewer pipes. Final requirements depend on PUB’s prevailing guidelines and project-specific risk.
Common activities
- Earthworks and excavation
- Piling, bored piles, micropiles and sheet piles
- ERSS works
- Utility trenching and trial holes
- Road works and drainage works
- Building works near underground services
- Temporary structures or heavy equipment near PUB assets
- Works near public sewer, manhole, water main or water pipe protection corridor
Typical risk factors
- Distance to sewer, manhole, water main or water pipe
- Pipe size, depth, material and importance
- Excavation depth and construction sequence
- Vibration, surcharge or temporary loading
- Ground conditions and temporary works design
- Whether activity plans require BCA approval and QP / PE involvement
Do not commence works relying only on general information. Project-specific PUB review may be required.
